APPLICATIONS TO COACH NSW STATE TEAMS FOR NATIONALS 2024

Inline Hockey NSW now seeks applications from current Skate Australia members holding a minimum Level 1 inline hockey coaching accreditation. The Australian Inline Hockey Nationals Championships will be held from Sunday 29 September 2024 to Sunday 6 October 24 at “Skate Paradise” located in Hillcrest, Logan, Queensland.

New program gives kids control of their own school run

Primary school students are being given a running start in 2024, as the NSW Government today announces a new $10 million Active Transport to School program to encourage children to safely walk, scoot or ride their bikes to school.

2024 WADA Prohibited List

The 2024 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods was approved by WADA’s Executive Committee (ExCo) during its meeting on 22 September 2023 and is going to enter into force on 1 January 2024. The below article has more information for those that are keen to read in more detail.

It is with a heavy heart that SkateNSW says goodbye to our good friend and colleague David Curtis, who passed away on Monday the 28th of August, 2023. David was a skater and longserving official and volunteer for SkateNSW and has been a familiar face at competitions for many decades. SkateNSW would like to offer our sincere condolences to David’s wife Kerrie, and the entire Curtis family. The artistic skating landscape of NSW will not be the same without him.

Sport and Active Recreation Update - Thursday, 2 August 2023

Last week the Australian Sports Commission and the Sport Volunteer Coalition launched the new Sport Volunteer Resource Hub, an online one-stop-shop of volunteering information and resources to support Australian sporting organisations and volunteers. It is particularly designed to support community sports clubs and committees. The hub highlights good volunteer management and provides free practical tools sports can use to support and attract volunteers.

Former Roller Speed Skating Champion turns 100

Wishing Gwendalyn Meale (nee Rose) a very happy 100th Birthday! Gwendalyn Meale was the NSW Speed Roller Skating Champion in 1939, 1940 and 1941. Her awards and roller skates can be seen at the Cootamundra Heritage Centre. We can only hope to live as long and as rich a life as Gwendalyn.
