The Public Health (COVID-19 General) Amendment Order (No 8) 2021 has been published this afternoon, outlining changes to the rules which will come into effect from Monday 8 November 2021. Amendment relating to the sport and recreation sector are detailed below. These amendments only apply to fully vaccinated adults, children under 16 years of age, and people with an approved medical contraindication certificate. Overnight the NSW Government has released the Public Health (COVID-19 General) Amendment Order (No 3) 2021. This amendment relates to outdoor community sport and recreation activities. The amendment outlines the changes to the maximum gathering size for outdoor community sport gatherings. Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Friday 8 October 2021

Following announcements over the past 48 hours regarding changes to restrictions from Monday 11 October 2021, the Public Health (COVID-19 General) Amendment (No 1) Order 2021 has now been published. The Office of Sport will continue to liaise with NSW Health regarding the roadmap and changes to restrictions that govern the sport and recreation sector. Further advice will be provided to the sector should amendments to the PHO be made over the weekend.

The NSW Government has published the Public Health Order which outlines restrictions in place from the Monday after the state reaches the 70 per cent double vaccination milestone. Following consultation with NSW Health, the Office of Sport can provide the initial advice below to support the sport and recreation sector as it prepares to recommence activities. The NSW Government has announced the roadmap from easing restrictions as NSW reaches the 80 per cent double dose target. From the Monday after NSW hits the 80 per cent (aged 16 and over) double dose vaccination target, eased restrictions will allow those who are fully vaccinated to have up to 10 people visit their home, participate in community sport, and access hospitality venues (where drinking while standing up will be allowed indoors).
