The NSW Government is strongly encouraging greater use of masks in high-risk public settings to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Important information regarding community sport COVID-19 Safety Plans

We have received correspondence from Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, advising that NSW Health will be updating the COVID-19 Safety Plan templates as a result of the rising case numbers in NSW. The letter documents the key changes that will need to be implemented by community sport organisations as a matter of priority. Updated COVID-19 Safety Plan templates will be available from this evening at the link below.

New Public Health Orders - Update In addition, the NSW government has also implemented the Public Health (COVID-19 Border Control) Order 2020, which relates to “affected persons”, persons who in the last 14 days have been in Victoria. The Order commenced at the beginning of 8 July 2020.

The NSW Government has announced that all community sporting competitions, full training and contact activities can resume from 1 July as part of the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions. The 1 July return gives sports and local government the opportunity to prepare for the recommencement of activities. The NSW Government has also announced that from 13 June 2020 gymnasiums, yoga and dance studios, pools and indoor recreation facilities can re-open under the following restrictions

Outdoor Gatherings Increase to 20 from Saturday 13 June

The NSW Government has announced a further easing of restrictions from Saturday 13 June, with food courts allowed to reopen, the number of people allowed to visit homes increased from 5 to 20, and the number of people allowed to gather outdoors increased from 10 to 20. This announcement will enable sport and recreation organisations to expand to groups of 20 for outdoor, non-contact training activities, maintaining physical distancing.

Sport NSW - A Return to Sport for All from 1 July 2020

The Acting Minister for Sport, Dr Geoff Lee, announced this morning on Ben Fordham’s 2GB radio program, that “adult (over 18 years old) community sport can recommence at the same time as 18 years and under from the start of next month, as the NSW Government lifts more COVID-19 restrictions.”

NSW coronavirus restrictions to ease further, all sport allowed to return from July 1

Community sports teams will be allowed to resume competition from July 1, as the NSW Government continues to ease coronavirus restrictions. The State Government has previously announced that children's sport competitions could return from July 1. "All community sports will return from July 1 and everybody can play, it's game on for the whole community, whether it's under 18 over 18 competition," Mr Lee told Nine Radio.

A Return to Sport for Under 18’s from 1 July 2020

It was announced today by the Deputy Premier, John Barilaro, that “kids’ sport can resume across NSW from 1 July.” The full press release as well as comments from Sport NSW can be read here. Note due to a number of questions having been raised over the announcement, today's meeting with the NSW Minister for Sport, NSW Office of Sport and NSW State Sport Organisations has been postponed until Friday 5th June 2020 ... expect clarifications to follow that meeting.

Sport Australia - Return to Sport Toolkit

Sport Australia has developed a Return to Sport Toolkit that includes a suite of resources to help sporting organisations get ready to recommence training, competitions and programs in a safe, responsible and low risk manner.

Sport and Recreation Sector Update - Friday 22 May 2020

The current Public Health Orders do not prevent any sporting organisation from resuming training. NSW sporting organisations can start training immediately as long as they comply with the current Public Health Orders, including training in maximum groups of 10 people and following the recommended physical distancing measures of 1.5 metres. It is up to the sporting organisation to adapt or modify their sport, to be in line with the Public Health Orders.
