2014 World Artistic Roller Skating Team

A number of SkateNSW Artistic Roller Figure Skating State team members have gained selection for the Skate Australia Artistic Roller Figure Skating National team that will represent Australia at the Upcoming World Artistic Roller Figure Skating Championships in Reus, Spain.

Robert Karp (Junior Mens Free Skating) will represent Australia for a second time, and Team Platinum (Small Show Group) will represent Australia for a third time at the Junior World Championships.

Isabel McTigue (Inline Ladies Free Skating), Amy Fell (Senior Ladies Figure Skating) and Kathryn Christensen (Senior Ladies Solo Dance) will all be first time Australian representatives (as individual skaters) at the World Championships (Amy and Kathryn are also members of Team Platinum).

In all SkateNSW will have 11 skaters, half of the 22 skater Australian Team that will represent Australia between 27th September and 11th October 2014. In all nearly fifty people (team, staff, coaches and supporters) will travel to Reus, Spain (100km south of Barcelona) for the Championships.

Robert Karp (16 - Warrimoo) – Junior Mens Free Skating

- Robert will represent Australia for a sixth time, third time at a World Championship and second time in the Junior Mens Free Skating event, in which he debuted last year. Robert, the Australian Junior Figure, Free Skating and Combined Champion, has a promising career ahead with a few more years in the Junior event ahead of him. The St Columba’s High School, Springwood student trains with the Team Skatel Artistic Roller Skating Club, based at Penrith Skatel, Emu Plains.

 

- Robert placed 12th in the Short Program, and finish 14th after the Long Program (from 19)


Isabel McTigue (22 - Randwick) – Inline Ladies Free Skating

- Isabel will represent Australia for a third time, and first time at a World Championship. Isabel competes on both Roller Skates (she is the Australian Preliminary Free Skating Champion) and Inline Skates, where she won the Silver medal in the International Inline Free Skating at the Australian Championships to gain selection. The University of NSW student trains with the Wheels Roller Skating Club, based at Indoor Central, Mascot.

- Isabel placed 7th in the Short Program, and finish 7th (from 8) after the Long Program

Kathryn Christensen (22 – South Penrith) – Senior Ladies Solo Dance

- Kathryn will represent Australia for an eight time, fifth time at a World Championship but first time in an individual event, Senior Solo Dance, having been the reserve last year. Kathryn narrowly missed out on the Gold, having lead after the Compulsory Dance section to finish with the Silver after the Free Dance in the Senior International Ladies Solo Dance at the Australian Championships. The University of Sydney student trains with the Team Skatel Artistic Roller Skating Club, based at Penrith Skatel, Emu Plains.

- Kathryn placed 19th after the Complusory Dance, and finish 19th (from 24) after the Free Dance


Amy Fell (26 – East Blaxland) – Senior Ladies Figure Skating

- Amy will represent Australia for a fourth time, third time at a World Championship but first time in an individual event, Senior Ladies Figures. Amy won the Silver medal, in a close three-way competition, in the Senior International Ladies Figure event at the recent Australian Championships. The University of Sydney student trains with the Team Skatel Artistic Roller Skating Club, based at Penrith Skatel, Emu Plains.

 

- Amy placed 40th (from 43)


Team Platinum – Small Show Group

- The Small Show Group, Team Platinum will represent Australia for a third consecutive year at the World Championships. The three times Australian Champions, consists of 10 members who train with the Team Skatel Artistic Roller Skating Club, based at Penrith Skatel, Emu Plains.

- Evie Karp (19 – Faulconbridge) – 1 World Championship (1 Show Group)

- Robert Karp (16 – Warriomoo) – 3 World Championships (3 Show Group, 2 Free Skating)

- Nicole Manley (18 – Emu Plains) – 3 World Championships (3 Show Group)

- Lisa Martin (24 – The Oaks) – 3 World Championships (3 Show Group)

- Alexandra Mulvey (21 – Mount Annan) – 1 World Championship (1 Show Group)

- Chantelle Simms (24 – St Clair) – 2 World Championships (1 Precision Team, 1 Show Group)
